A week on the wild side

A WEEK ON THE WILD SIDE - UGANDA GROUP TOUR

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park

Today you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where we will meet you for a welcome drink and a briefing. We then take a flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Overnight: Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2 Queen Elizabeth National Park

Ishasha is a more remote part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, but one which has a sense of exclusivity. The game density here is high, and it supports some of the largest herds of Elephant anywhere in Uganda. There is prolific plains game and this means that predators are in attendance. Spotted Hyena and Leopard are occasionally sighted. However, a prime attraction for Ishasha is its large lion population, and the frequency of sightings is higher here than anywhere else in Uganda. An added bonus is that they have learned to climb trees to escape the midday heat, and one is usually rewarded by several lions relaxing in a tree.

Overnight: Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 3 QENP - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

An early morning game drive, followed by lunch and a journey further south (2.5 hours, 65km, 39 Miles) to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Overnight: Geo Lodges Silverback Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 4 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

The Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi are part of a worldwide population of just 720 individuals. The gorillas we are allowed to track belong either one of 6 habituated family groups. For up to five years each, these groups have undergone a delicate process that has gradually brought them to tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day.
The time taken to track the gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 9 hours before one returns to camp. Once the gorillas are located, our group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.

Overnight: Geo Lodges Silverback Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 5 Bwindi - Lake Mburo National Park

Today we will travel eastwards (8 hours, 285km, 171 Miles) to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch in Mbarara, we drive to the park and check in to our camp, enjoying a game drive on the way.

Overnight: Mihingo Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 6 Lake Mburo National Park

This morning we enjoy a game drive by ATV. These specially silenced vehicles give on the opportunity to approach wildlife to within distances not normally possible with normal game viewing jeeps. Our experienced guides and rangers will ensure that this remains a highlight of your trip. Alternatively, you can experience the park on horseback—another unique activity for Uganda

This afternoon, we enjoy an optional boat trip on Lake Mburo to view the area’s hippo and birdlife population, or laze by the pool overlooking the plains far below.

Overnight: Mihingo Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
