Rwanda Primates

Golden MonkeysOn this active primate adventure, visit the remote and little-known Nyungwe Forest in southern Rwanda. The park is one of Africa’s hidden gems, with many rare plant, bird and primate species. Then we move on to the Volcanoes National Park to experience Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys in their misty mountain refuge.

Early Bird Offer: This tour is eligible for our 2012 Early Bird Offer! Book and pay by 15th May 2012 for any Rwanda Primates tour travelling between 1st June and 31st December 2012, and receive $250pp off the published price of the tour.

Trip Highlights

  • Nyungwe is one of the most biologically diverse areas in Africa, with 20% of the continent’s primate species found here, more than 140 orchid species, over 240 tree species and 275 bird species, including 24 that are endemic to the Albertine Rift
  • Nyungwe is the one of the furthest sources of both the Congo and the Nile, two of the world’s mightiest rivers
  • You will get a chance to observe Nyungwe’s Chimpanzees up close, and are also likely to meet some of the Black and White Colobus Monkeys who live in groups of up to 300 individuals in this 'enchanted forest'
  • You get to track the extremely rare Mountain Gorillas - on any given day, you will be one of the hundred luckiest people on the planet doing this
  • Stay at the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, which combines luxury with responsibility - the lodge is owned by the local community, but run by high end accommodation experts Governors Camps
  • The Virunga Volcanoes are a stunning location, and two of them, Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira, are still active.
