Islands In The Sky

Mountain Gorilla. Picture taken by Jonathan Rossouw.Visiting the ancient rain forests of Bwindi and the Virunga Volcanoes, this unique tour gives you an experience of both isolated populations of Mountain Gorillas. Bwindi is the refuge of Uganda’s gorillas, and the Virungas are home to Rwanda’s, their residents making up almost all of the world's population of 786 individuals.

Early Bird Offer: This tour is eligible for our 2012 Early Bird Offer! Book and pay by 15th May 2012 for any Islands In The Sky tour travelling between 1st June and 31st December 2012, and receive $250pp off the published price of the tour.

Trip Highlights

  • You get to track Mountain Gorillas in two of the only three countries where they remain in the wild. On any given day, you will be one of the few lucky people on the planet doing this, and one of the even more select group to have tracked the Gorillas in both countries.
  • Stay at the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge and the Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, which combine luxury with responsibility. The lodges are owned by the local community, but run by high end accommodation experts.
  • The Virunga Volcanoes are a stunning location, and two of them, Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira, are still active.
