Birth Of Rare Gorilla Twins
February 14, 2011
February brought some exciting news from the rangers in Rwanda, as the country welcomed two very special arrivals. The pair – both boys – were born to Kabatwa, a member of the Hirwa group of gorillas, who is apparently proving to be an excellent mother!
The population of mountain gorillas increased by more than 25% in Central African Parks between 2003 and 2010. Two thirds live in the Virunga Massif mountain chain that straddles Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The only other place they exist is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.Visit our tours section to find details of our Gorilla tours in both Rwanda and Uganda, and book now to pay a visit to these very special primates…
