2012 Agent Fam Trip to Uganda & Rwanda
December 12, 2011Uganda and Rwanda look set for a boost in 2012, since Uganda was named No. 1 destination in the world for 2012 (Lonely Planet) and the Virunga Volcanoes that straddle the border between Uganda and Rwanda were listed as one of the Top 10 Trips for 2012 (National Geographic).
To tie this in with our own marketing push, The Far Horizons will be hosting a heavily-subsidised Uganda & Rwanda Familiarisation Trip, targeting leading tour operators and selected travel journalists. The tour is scheduled to take place from 24 April to 9 May 2012 – dates which are designed to dovetail neatly with attendance of Indaba in South Africa – a key event on the travel trade calendar.
The itinerary will include visits to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Parks (all in Uganda), as well as Nyungwe Forest and Volcanoes National Parks in Rwanda. Activities will include the classic wildlife highlights of a Uganda/Rwanda safari, such as tracking Chimpanzees, Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys, with plenty of game drives and launch cruises. Additionally, there will be the chance to try new, experiential conservation activities such as Rhino Tracking, Lion Monitoring and Mongoose Tracking. The itinerary also features authentic cultural encounters and quality community tourism products such as experiencing the living history of The Batwa Trail, or visiting a Community Honey Project where tourists can try their hand at creating their very own beeswax candle.
